Cosmic librarian.
Human behavior observer. Professional decoder of social nonsense. 🌙🪶
For most of my life, I thought I was simply writing stories about relationships.
Dating relationships. Family relationships. Friendships. Workplace dynamics. Middle school social hierarchies. The strange emotional gymnastics humans perform trying to belong to one another while simultaneously misunderstanding each other in real time.
Turns out… I’ve been documenting human behavior all along.
Recently, while developing my middle grade series Hailey Has the Answers, something unexpected happened. The storytelling framework I created for my main character, Hailey, started revealing something deeper about me as the writer behind her.
Hailey uses something called the M.I.M.S. (Make It Make Sense) Journal to process the world around her when the math ain't mathing.. She observes social dynamics, decodes hidden meanings, identifies emotional patterns, and translates the often confusing behavior of the people around her.
At some point during the writing process, I realized:
I’ve been doing that my entire life.
The M.I.M.S. Journal wasn’t just a storytelling device. It was the externalized version of how I already navigate the world.
Suddenly, everything connected.
My earlier poetry.
The music I’ve written.
My fascination with emotional subtext.
My love of satire and social commentary.
My tendency to analyze the gap between what people say and what they actually mean.
Even my lifelong obsession with systems, contradictions, and human behavior itself.
The truth is, I’ve always been observing.
As a child growing up in multiple regions of America. As a Black woman navigating social systems. As someone raised around music, storytelling, rebellion, and cultural commentary. As a writer trying to understand why humans struggle so deeply with authenticity, belonging, power, communication, and connection.
I’ve spent decades mentally documenting the hidden emotional architecture beneath human behavior.
The stories were simply the evidence. That realization led me to the name:
Moonscribe.
A cosmic librarian documenting human foolishness on ghetto planet Earth, since the birth of the cosmos, across space and time. 🌙🪶
Yes, it’s humorous. Slightly unhinged. Dramatic for no reason. But, it fits.
The moon has always symbolized observation, reflection, illumination in darkness, and hidden emotional tides. The “scribe” part reflects what I’ve always done naturally: observe, interpret, translate, and tell stories about the beautifully complicated systems humans create around connection.
Whether I’m writing:
stories about modern dating,
middle school social dynamics,
workplace foolishness,
female friendships,
emotional red flags,
or the awkward theater production known as adulthood…
the underlying question is always the same:
What’s really happening here?
That question lives at the center of everything I write.
So if you’ve ever found yourself:
decoding emotional subtext,
questioning social systems,
observing the contradictions of humanity,
laughing to keep from screaming,
or realizing middle school never actually ended…
Welcome.
You’ve officially entered the world of the Moonscribe. 🌙🪶⚠️ (proceed with a certain level of caution...just sayin')
